Candy Explosion Cake Class: Cake Buddies Adults + Youth

Cake Buddies is a new class offering for youth ages 3-17 and their grown-ups. Each grown-up will work on one cake with their child. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Only one child per adult are allowed.
In this class, each pair will create the Candy Explosion Cake. You will learn how to stack, fill, and crumb coat a cake as well as cover it with the final color. Students will get to experiment with chocolate ganache to achieve the “drip effect”. You will also learn piping techniques and buttercream basics using provided tools and supplies. This class is beginner friendly – no experience needed!
All materials and a box to take home your cake are included.
Instructor Bio:
Taught by local expert treat maker and cake decorator, Alexa Melhado of Tootie Treats. Alexa started baking at the age of 4 with her grandmother and it is believed that her first baking accomplishment was using a box of Jiffy corn muffins! She loved it so much that with her grandmothers help, she wrote them a fan letter to a company, and they shipped a giant box of Jiffy mixes just for her!
Creating any kind of art has always been her greatest joy, so it just makes sense that Tootie Treats came to be. Over the years, Alexa took classes just like this one, and even flew to different parts of the country to learn from her cake heros, perfecting her skill set and stepping into her own style as a creator.
Alexa’s teaching style is fun and informative, with an emphasis on encouraging students to use their imaginaion, and go beyond what a reference photo may show! Alexa wants her students to have fun, color OUTSIDE the lines, and let their artistic intuition run the show.
